The Ladies Lounge: An Empowerment Affair

I am pleased to announce the official launching of The Ladies Lounge, An Empowerment Affair!!

Where: Amendment XXI in Huntsville, AL

Time: 6-8 pm CDT

My colleague, Jewell Thomas of The Benefit Boutique, and I have joined forces to bring an empowerment movement for women to the Huntsville community. We both have a love for women’s issues and needs and got together to discuss ways we can use our social work skills to empower women within our community. The Ladies Lounge is an organization that hosts monthly empowerment events for women who desire to step away from their busy day-to-day lives and lounge and connect with other women through sharing personal/professional stories, journeys and advice. We aim to hold these events on a monthly basis and they will be held at different locations. Each event will cater to the needs and desires of women of all ages. In addition to our monthly events, we plan to do community outreach by giving back to women in recovery from life threatening situations including substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health, etc. We also plan to give back to our younger generation and provide events for them that will foster growth, development and self-esteem.

Our goal with The Ladies Lounge is to create a sisterhood among women that you don’t see often. We are so much stronger together than we are separate and sadly we see a lot of women tearing each other down, talking about each other and competing with each other. I’m sure we have all engaged in this and I can say I am guilty of it all. It all starts with us and this is our way to combat the negativity among women and create a sisterhood.

We ask for your prayers, support and love in whatever way you see fit to help us on this journey. With both of us having our own personal businesses, it can and will get a bit hectic, but we both believe that God has equipped us for this very moment and we are eager (and nervous lol) to carry out this mission.
