This is our first Christmas in our new home and it’s been a long time since I’ve really truly decorated for the holiday. Because our family has had such a tough year, I wanted to end the year on a joyful note by making our home warm, cheerful and nostalgic for the season. My idea for decor was to keep it neutral like the rest of our home decor. I didn’t want to stray too far away from that, plus the minimal neutral vibes is just what I’m on these days.
Table decor
Because I didn’t have a tree I had to get one along with ornaments. I already had table decor from the last two years and it went with my decor theme, so I was able to use everything that I had from previous years. I used pine cones and various types of mini Christmas trees for table decor.
Dining table and kitchen
For our dining table and kitchen island, I wanted to add some greenery but keep it simple. For the dining table I went with a white vase and filled it with some green stems. In our kitchen, I added a wreath to the wall. I also used a wooden stand to display a mini tree, a white Christmas house and a candle. You can never go wrong with a candle.
Front porch
I chose to keep our porch area simple. I also wanted something that could be used throughout the entire winter season especially since wreaths aren’t cheap. The layered doormat look is a vibe, so I incorporated that into our front porch decor.
The tree
For my tree I wanted very minimal decor. I was initially only going to do black round ornaments, but then I saw a pack of brown and copper and decided to go that route. I still planned on adding black ornaments because I ordered them, but I received a pack of red and burgundy round ornaments instead. Luckily, the burgundy ornaments actually worked and gave the tree a moody vibe which is what I was going for anyway. I ended up adding a brown beaded garland to tie it all together. I chose not to put a topper on the tree; I was on the fence about it and the one I was considering at Target was sold out.
I enjoyed decorating for the holidays and bringing a little joy into our home for the season. If you are looking for some last minute decor ideas, I you can shop my LTK which links most of the decor items I used. I have been loving seeing how everyone else has decorated their home for Christmas!
Until next time…
