Write the Vision: How to Make 2016 Your Best Year Yet
So 2016 is already underway and I’m sure everyone has their goals and resolutions in place. When we approach a new year it’s like an opportunity to start fresh or start anew. It’s a time to reflect on the year passed and determine new goals for the new year. It’s also a time to get in gear for what God has in store. Why is it that most people get excited and set goals for the new year only to fall off and lose motivation by February or March? What happens to that motivation, energy and excitement and how do we maintain it all year?
One of the things that hold us back from reaching our goals is that we no longer want to put in the work, time and energy into making those dreams a reality. We spend a lot of time dreaming, writing and even mapping out our goals and envisioning what our lives would be like once we got there. In thinking on that end goal we don’t stop to think about the process. We don’t take into account that we might have to make some lifestyle changes in order to reach those goals. Just think about it, if you are trying to reach a new height in your life then how can you get there doing the same things you’ve been doing? If you were amped about your goals at the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016, but now you’ve kind of pushed it to the side and really aren’t as motivated, I would suggest reevaluating your goals and adding action steps to those goals. It’s not enough to just write down what you want to accomplish, you also need to have an idea of how you are going to get there. You want to become an entrepreneur and work for yourself? Well you can’t continue to come home after your day job and sit on the couch and watch TV until bed time. You have to put in that extra work when you have that extra time. You want to lose weight? Well you can’t continue eating the same foods and only relying on exercise to help you shed the pounds. It’s time to change your diet.
In order to make 2016 your best year yet, writing down your goals or making your vision board is not enough. It’s time to map out your plan of action, your objectives, the how you’re going to get there. It’s time to change how you do things. It’s time to do some research on the new life you’re desiring to live. You can’t continue to sit in the same place you’ve been year after year. Don’t continue the cycle of planning and falling off. Staying motivated can be challenging, but if you have those daily, weekly or monthly action steps, that will help you to not only stay on track but help you remember why you got started and where you are trying to go.
What are your goals for this year? Are you still working at them or have you lost your motivation? I’d love to hear from you 🙂
Until next time…

I just want change!!! I’m so entrenched in my unhealthiness, that I feel defeated before I start. I know for me, it’s got to be with Divine help or I’ll start, fail, and give up (like before)! But I just want to START! Thanks Sherelle for being so transparent, honest and willing to motivate people like me! May God grant you favor and increase your blessings!

Thank you for your kind words! It definitely has to come from the Lord. When you acknowledge your weaknesses and ask Him to take control, He will do just that! All it takes is us surrendering and believing that He will supply. The reason we give up and get in this cycle of back and forth is that we take it to Him then we take it back. We don’t believe and have the faith that we should even in the small things. God wants to help us in ALL areas, not just on the job or at church, ALL areas including what we put into our bodies. Start looking at it that way and begin to surrender.
