It wasn’t until I really started releasing my worries to God that I experienced true relief from life’s burdens. So often I would pray about things, but then pick them right back up and try to figure it out on my own which only created more anxiety, more stress. I’ve come to learn what it truly means to pray and leave my worries at His feet. She prays, no worries.
I’m known to be a worrier lol. It wasn’t until I got married that I truly realized my level of worry is pretty ridiculous. I would often pray for faith because I felt that was something that needed to be strengthened and God would allow me to be in situations that would not only test my faith but challenge that spirit of worry. It’s like I would pray for something, but then walk away from those prayers still worried, not realizing that I hadn’t even left those prayers at God’s feet. Worry, stress and anxiety all go hand-in-hand and can cause mental and physical health issues.
Getting to the root of that spirit of worry truly helped me to understand what was going on and how to start letting it go. Underneath that worry lived fear, insecurity and control. I was often afraid that God wouldn’t handle my burdens the way I felt He should or in a timely manner. I also was unsure if I even deserved to have my prayers answered the way I desired – maybe God was going to punish me for something by not answering my prayers. The controlling nature in me would feel that it would take Him too long to answer my prayers and I hated waiting so I even though I prayed, I would still try to figure out the answer on my own. This did nothing but created worry on top of worry. If you are like me, then you can relate – it’s no way to live as a Christian, as a believer and follower of Christ!
It’s a daily intentional process, but I am learning what it means to truly lay my burdens down and leave them. You can’t pray and worry, it has to be one or the other. Prayer requires faith which is the opposite of worry, the two can’t coexist. She prays, no worries means that not only is she praying, she’s leaving those prayers at the feet of God and she’s walking away with no worries because she has faith that God is going to do what He said. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
