Hi all!! So I haven’t blogged in a month and I’ve felt so bad about it but the month of October was so busy for me that I had no time to dedicate to my blog or organization. Months like this I wish I was working for myself (#goals), but nonetheless I’m thankful for all the reasons I have been busy in October. I decided to fill you in on exactly what’s been going on with me.
Training at work + Belk Event – October 6-8, 2015
So the first full week in October I hit the ground running. I coordinated a 3-day Extended Forensic Interview training at work in the midst of preparing for the Belk event. Preparing for the event included making sure I had my outfit together and getting my hair done. For the event and a mini vacay that followed, I decided to do crochet braids for convenience. On the last day of the training I left work and headed straight for Belk at Bridge Street. Overall, I enjoyed myself at the Girls’ Night Out event, thanks to my friends who came and made it that much more exciting for me. Take a look at some of our pictures from the night.
Miami for a Dirty 30 Celebration – October 9-12, 2015
The day after my training and the Belk event I flew to Miami for my friend’s Dirty 30 Birthday Celebration. We had so much fun, the weather was perfect and I ate some good food 🙂 It was so nice to get together with a group of women for a weekend of fun and relaxation.
First Time Presenting at a Training + Moving + Training in Wyoming – October 16-22, 2015
So, after I returned from my mini vacation in Miami I had to prepare to present for the first time at a training. Our agency, National Children’s Advocacy Center, provided a Victim Advocacy Training. Victim Advocates from all over the county came to Huntsville for this training and I was asked to present on the Caregivers Support Group section of the training. When I was asked to present, my first thought was, “me?!” But then God reminded me that I prayed for this. I prayed for more opportunities to “teach”/present. So, even with a little nervousness at first, I did my thang! And it was awesome! I received a lot of great feedback on how the presentation was and some even stayed at the end for questions – questions are good!!!! 🙂 I was/am so blessed to have had that opportunity to teach victim advocates about support groups and provide them with that information and insight.
The Saturday after my presentation I went to Terri Little’s “Women Who Overcome” Conference and it was such a blessing! It was so wonderful to be with women who are on fire for the Lord and who can join together in worship.
In the midst of all this, my husband and I packed up our apartment (I’ll share more on this later – God is doing some amazing things in our life). We moved that same weekend. I had about a week after my trip to really get serious. I put a lot of the packing off and felt the effects of that later lol. The day after our move day I had to be in Wyoming for a training for a few days. IDK what I was thinking making our move date the day before travel, but hey, some of the best changes/transitions of my life have happened exhaustingly crazy like this so what the heck?! Why not?!
Wyoming was interesting to say the least. I had never been and never had a desire to go. We went to a small town called Green River – and when I say small I mean SMALL. I met some really nice people, even a minister on my plane ride (this always happens to me lol), had some decent food and was able to see beautiful mountain ranges/canyons.
Baby Shower – October 29, 2015
To end the month of October I was responsible for decorations for a baby shower for a co-worker. When I volunteered I didn’t realize how crazy of a month October would be, but I really wanted to exercise my creativity and do something nice for my co-worker 🙂 Take a look at the decor..
Now I’m back!!
I feel like life is getting back to normal now. The rest of my October was filled with coordinating two more off-site trainings (I didn’t have to travel to these), unpacking and preparing for the next Ladies Lounge event. I’ll be filling you in on some other things/changes going on soon 🙂
Until next time…
