Knowing Your Worth

For a long time, I found it so difficult to see what God sees in me, and if I’m being honest, I still do from time to time. I often doubt my capabilities, I shrink or hide when I don’t feel like I belong, and I often question what God has in store for me because I have a hard time believing it. But God constantly reminds me of the precious time He took to create me. He reminds me of the purpose He placed on the inside of me. He reminds me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. She is worthy.

It can be hard to see yourself as God sees you when you’re so used to being overly critical or judgmental of yourself. We have to remind ourselves that God was so intentional when He made us and that we were worth dying for! We can’t give up on ourselves because He hasn’t given up on us. There will be times when we will doubt ourselves, when we will feel like we don’t belong or even feel like God has forgotten about us. The beauty and most wonderful thing about our Lord is that He knows us – even better than we know ourselves! He knows what we need when we need it, He knows when we are feeling low and just how to pick us up, He knows when we are questioning ourselves or our purpose. He knows.

Knowing your worth is about knowing who and whose you are according to what He has said about you, not according to the world’s opinions. It’s about believing that you deserve so much more than you think and then going after it. It’s about daily surrendering your toxic thoughts of yourself, behaviors and anything or anyone that hinders you from becoming everything God created you to be. Knowing your worth is also about not settling for anything less that your Father said you deserve and believing that there is always so much more in store.

Like most, it took a while for me to understand my worth – heck, I’m still learning. It’s hard to see the good when you can name so many bad things about yourself. Our gracious Father, however, knew every thought, behavior and stumbling block that would cause us to fall short of what He’s called us to be. He knew when He was creating us in our mother’s wombs, but he continued to create us. He continues to love on us and chase after us. He continues to shower us with His love, mercy and grace. If that doesn’t show you that you are worthy I don’t know what will! Who or what else in this world will go that hard in the paint for you? …I’ll wait.

When you know your worth, you won’t have to cling to substances to ease your pain or to make you feel better. When you know your worth, you won’t have to shrink or hide yourself or your talents in fear of what others will say. When you know your worth, you give all your problems to God because you know you weren’t designed to fix them anyway. When you know your worth, you rise to your greatest potential and live out the purpose God created in you in your mother’s womb. When you know your worth, you also know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
