There are quite a few things I’m loving right now and I have just coined them as my obsessions. I don’t know about you but when I’m obsessing over something whether it’s a new hairstyle, a new fashion piece/trend, home decor trend or even celebrity, I create my own little “album” and save a bunch of images to that album and just scroll through as if I’m scrolling through my timeline lol (please don’t act like I’m the only one). Well, anyway I may or may not have a few things that I’m currently obsessing over and decided to share this with ya’ll in a post. So, let’s get into it….
All things locs
Whether Lisa Bonet inspired goddess locs or the real deal, I’ve been feeling locs lately. So much so that I’m seriously thinking about loc’ing my hair 🙂 I’m just obsessing over the carefreeness (yup, just made up a word) of them and as I’m getting older I’m more interested in carefree type of styles. Sure every style requires its maintenance, but I’m loving more and more the idea of get up and go hair. Anywho, locs are just so beautiful to me. I love the different lengths, textures, and colors and since I’m considering them I have been watching so many YouTube videos about starter locs, loc maintenance and saving so many images of locs. But until I decide, I’m going to stick with my faux locs and obsess over the real ones.
Cajun Spices + Pumpkin Spice Lattes
I went to New Orleans in September for a training and suddenly became obsessed with Cajun and blackened seasonings. I even picked up some seasonings while out there and came back home turning literally every dish into a New Orleans style Cajun-blackened meal. And since it’s fall, I can’t forget about pumpkin spice! I know not everyone is a fan, but I LOVE pumpkin spice especially in a chai. It’s literally my favorite right now and I will be sad when it’s gone, so I have to enjoy it while it’s still around.
Wholesome, Super emotional TV shows
This is Us and the Chicagos (Fire, PD and Med) are my favorite shows on TV right now. If you watch This Is Us then you know what I mean when it comes to the emotions! This show will have you in tears, on the verge of tears and/or thinking about your whole life and mental state every week. I feel like the writer is low key a therapist. This show addresses so many issues that aren’t always talked about or touched on in TV. I could go on and on about why I love this show, but I can’t leave out my Chicagos! This is another series that will have you on an emotional roller coaster because they deal with real life emergency response type situations from fires, to crime to medical and sometimes they cross over and become one big episode – which is the best!! With all the rachet TV (which is a guilty pleasure of mine from time to time), it’s nice to have some good ol’ wholesome TV.
Inspirational Music + Podcasts
I’m here for the inspirational and uplifting music and about a year ago I got into podcasts, well one in particular, The Great Girlfriends Podcast, and it has become my fave (actually the only one I really listen to). I try to start my mornings with inspiration that will help get my day going and there are times when I want something other than music, so podcasts are great for that! I love the hosts of the GGFs and they touch on a lot of relatable topics for women. They talk about everything from motherhood, to entrepreneurship, spirituality, marriage, singleness, and more! I’ve also been listening to Lecrae (he’s a Christian hip hop artist) for my morning workouts. Since I like to keep my mornings inspirational, his music gives me the inspiration I need with the hip hop vibe I like for my workouts 😉
Health Goals
So we all got em, and if you’ve read my blog in the past you know this has been an off and on thing with me. In the past I’d get really into working out and eating healthy and then I’d fall off. Well, I’m tired of that, I’m tired of the on again off again relationship with food and the gym. AND on top of that I have some mild health concerns, which I’ll share later at some point, that I want to try to alleviate with a better diet and exercise. I believe that God needs me to let go, destress and allow Him to work and the best way I can do that is to go hard in the gym! Plus I’ve been obsessing over my sister friend’s IG; she is killing it in the gym and looking amazing! I wanted some of the amazingness too so I decided to pick up where I left off, write out my health and fitness goals and go for it again 🙂
Online Shopping
I blame my husband for my online shopping obsession. I barely go into the stores now because I love the convenience of using my phone or laptop to make some purchases and have them delivered to my home. Amazon is great for their two-day shipping! I also enjoy subscription boxes. I’ve subscribed to two, the NStyle Box and Grove Collaborative (I’ll be sharing my experience with them in the next post), and I just love the idea of having something coming in the mail at least once a month.
What are some of your current obsessions? Comment below, I’d love to hear from you!
