Recently the members of The Ladies Lounge got together for a labor of love – putting together care baskets for survivors of domestic violence. We had been brainstorming ideas for giving back to the community, specifically women in need. Considering my background in working with DV, I thought our first labor of love should be for DV survivors. They are often overlooked especially with being in safe houses and confidentiality rules. I contact Crisis Services of Alabama, told them about The Ladies Lounge and what we are doing and asked for a list of items needed by the ladies in the safe house and for how many. We each signed up for the items we wanted to provide and got together over lunch to put together the baskets. The items in the baskets included:
- Razors
- Facial Items
- Lotion
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Chap stick
- Nail polish
- Deodorant
- Toothbrushes
- Hand sanitizer
- Chocolate
- Mini bibles
- Devotionals
- Handwritten encouragement notes from The Ladies Lounge
Here are some photos from our Labor of Love gathering:
It was such a blessing for us to be able to give back to women in need. The items on the list are basic necessities to us, but to them they aren’t so basic. We wanted these women to know that we are not only rooting for them but we care and we want them to continue to survive. The Ladies Lounge will be doing more community outreach projects and we hope that you will join us in giving back. Find out how to donate to the Ladies Lounge to further our endeavors – every donation is greatly appreciated.
Until next time…

This is awesome and I would love to participate in something like this! Where is the ladies lounge located and how can I join in on this effort?
