So for those who know me really well know that I LOVE pizza!! Since I have been trying to eat healthier I decided to try to healthy route for my favorite meal. Who says you can’t still enjoy things you love while being health conscious? Joe and I are determined to still enjoy our food, have fun with trying different recipes all while being healthy! Take a look at my recipe for this yummy garden pizza 🙂
INGREDIENTS
- Whole wheat flour
- 1 packet of Fleischmann’s pizza crust yeast
- 1 jar of Prego Alfredo sauce (light) or if you don’t like Alfredo sauce on your pizza you can substitute for 1 jar of Prego garden pasta sauce
- 1 large bag of mozzarella shredded cheese (I get mine from Target of course, the Market Pantry brand)
- 1 carton of fresh mushrooms
- 1-2 fresh tomatoes
- Broccoli
- Spinach
- 1 can of black olives (or more if you’d like)
- Crushed red peppers
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 – Follow the directions on the back of the yeast packet for preparing your crust.
Step 2 – Heat your oven to 350 degrees and grease your pizza pan with olive oil.
Step 3 – In a pan, saute’ your spinach in olive oil – this shouldn’t take long. Chop up your broccoli as small as you can and in a separate pan saute the broccoli in olive oil as well. Throw a little garlic salt and crushed red pepper on the broccoli.
Step 4 – Once your dough is prepared you may need a little more flour on your hands, roll it out onto your pizza pan with a rolling pin or you can spread it out with your hands to the edge of the pan.
Step 5 – Add the Alfredo or pizza sauce and sprinkle just a few of the crushed red peppers. Add your spinach on top of the sauce. Next you will add your mozzarella cheese, as much or as little as you’d like. The add the remaining toppings – mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, and olives. I don’t like olives so I only added them on half the pizza for Joe.
Step 6 – Bake the pizza on 350 for 12-15 min depending on how fast it cooks. Make sure it cooks until the cheese is melted and slightly brown. Joe added a few pineapples to his portion after the pizza baked – this helps to keep the pineapple juices from getting the pizza soggy while it’s cooking. Overall this pizza was so yummy!! It was a great healthy option to one of my favorites 🙂
Let me know if you try this how it turns out for you.
Until next time…
